Youth Ministry

I have the privilege of serving as the resource director for the Center for Youth Ministry Training, a non-profit organization dedicated to theological training of youth leaders who want quality education but who probably aren’t headed for seminary. We’ve received a Lilly Foundation grant to develop practical, actionable resources that specifically relate to research in youth ministry that has been funded by Lilly and others over the past several years. (Lilly is the world’s largest corporate contributor to religious causes.)

But we’re also hoping to multiply our “talents,” so we want to disseminate that information to as many youth leaders as we can. As part of that dissemination, we’ve developed a new Web site designed as an aggregator of great content that is already available to youth leaders out there: YMtoday.com. We want to offer youth leaders a bunch of great free content, and we will point them to appropriate places to purchase great content, as well.

We’re looking for stories, advice, tips, tools, Bible studies, topical curriculum, discussion starters, book/music/movie reviews, fundraising insights, trip planners, or pretty much anything we can post on the Web that will resource youth workers. And we want to give it away for free.

That also means, though, that all of the authors and editors would be contributing their time, talents, and resources for free, as well. I hope the exposure will provide some benefit to them, but ultimately, it’s definitely going to have to be done as a labor of love.
